I write an e-mail and enter the recipient.

The 'Send' button is pressed.

Then for some reason the e-mail is then sent to them twice.

I do have 2 e-mail addresses being controlled by Tbird but both e-mails seem to be comong from the same (main) address.

Any help appreciated

Is it actually being received twice by the recipient, or are there just two copies appearing in the Sent folder? If it's a Gmail or Hotmail/outlook.com account, it's not necessary to check the setting to have a copy placed in the Sent folder (Tools/Account Settings/accountname/Copies & Folders), since both services already automatically do so. The same may be true for other email providers.

Thanks sfhowes - problem solved but a) I found Account Settings via 'Options' not 'Tools' (I use v 24.6.0) and b) why did it suddenly start doing it this week?

It's possible a change was made at the server end, or maybe an update to some 3rd-party program, e.g. a mail-scanning security program, caused a change. It has been a feature of Hotmail/live/outlook accounts for some time.

If you state your email provider, it may alert other users to adjust the setting.
