Why does Firefox add-ons manager install old version of LastPass?
After using Chrome in MS Windows for four years I have recently been considering a return to Firefox as my primary web browser.
After installing Firefox v26.0 my first requirement was to get the LastPass add-on, which I did via Firefox's "Add-Ons Manager". I signed in to my LastPass account and all should now have been well.
Not quite. Whenever I launched Firefox and logged in to LastPass, Firefox would hang for about a minute. The same occurred when I updated or created a LastPass record.
Then I checked the version of the LastPass plug-in: 2.0.20, built 2013-02-08. That's from eleven months ago!
I tried the update feature on the LastPass add-on menu, but it did nothing, so I went to LastPass.com and downloaded the latest version (3.0.12, built 2013-12-03). After a restart all was indeed well.
I had the exact same experience with Firefox on Linux, by the way.
Question: Why does the Firefox Add-Ons Manager point to an extremely out-of-date version of the LastPass Toolbar? Is this the fault of the Mozilla team or of LastPass themselves?
Whoever is at fault, it must be corrected and soon. I very nearly gave up on my switch back to Firefox because of this. I'm sure others will have had the same experience.

Version 2.0.20 is the latest version of this extension the author has uploaded to addons.mozilla.org hosting site.
Contact Lastpass and ask them to update on a.m.o
OK, thanks James. I've posted a similar item on the LastPass support forum. I'll update it to include the information that you've provided.
It just seems crazy that this could be allowed to happen. It impacts Firefox as much as LastPass. Until I realised I had the old version of the LP add-on, I thought Firefox was to blame for the hang behaviour.

I'm a non-employee contributor over in the LastPass community. Whenever this issue of an outdated plugin in the store comes up, the response from LastPass is that Mozilla is taking forever to approve the update for the add-on store.
I don't understand what goes on in the backend of Mozilla's plugin store, so it's inappropriate for me to speculate beyond that.
You can ask the company directly through their support ticket system, but I honestly don't know what to do beyond that to get the update pushed to the add-on store: https://lastpass.com/supportticket.php

This out-of-date LastPass add-on is a problem across all platforms that I've tried:
- Linux
- Windows
- Android
All have version 2.0.20 of the LastPass add-on. In all cases it is necessary to go to the LastPass web site and get the add-on from there.
In the case of the Android add-on, Firefox becomes completely unusable and continually causes a "not responding" prompt.
It's in the interest of both parties to fix this ASAP.

hello Jesse_Penny, thanks for your insight - according to public information from mozilla's addons team, reviews for updated addons at addons.mozilla.org currently take around 5 days - so i don't know if this would warrant pulling out of AMO, which causes the issues the question owner has described...
