I previously posted the following as a Reply whereas it ought to have been a Question: I use the save passwords facility and when I want to login in to one of my Yahoo accounts, I used to simply type the first character of my Yahoo account name and FF would either show a dropdown list of all of my accounts starting with that character or, if only one account exists starting with the typed character, FF shows just that one in the dropdown list. When I clicked on the required account name, FF auto-filled the password box. Since updating to FF V25 this functionality appears compromised, on first use after starting FF it may work but then on the next use, nothing happens when I type the first character of the account name. TO MAKE IT WORK AGAIN, I click on Tools, select Options and ensure that the Security tab is visible (where I can see 'Remember Passwords for Sites' is ticked), then I click on OK (WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING ELSE) then it works correctly in giving the dropdown list of account names and auto-completing the password when I select an account name. I do the above procedure every time FF doesn't display the dropdown of account names and it fixes the problem - I don't do anything on the Security tab within the Options window other than click OK ! Does any one know why saved names/passwords will only function correctly for the Yahoo sign-in page only after simply opening Options/Security tab and then closing it? I am not using Private Browsing. Regards, Steve 11th November 2013.

Yahoo has specific rules about that part because of security and safety reasons, i can't be specific about it but trust me, the saving password system works fine, it just doesn't work on yahoo, I tried to save password long time ago when it asked too save password on yahoo but it didn't work, now it wont ask to save password at all from Yahoo at all....so my guess is security and safety reasons

@Xrazoc

The Yahoo website uses autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving form data like name and password.

You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox store form data like names and passwords.

Note that Firefox won't auto-fill saved form data automatically when autocomplete=off is used, so you need to double-click the empty name field to get a drop-down list.

It does work for me on Yahoo as long as I first click: Tools / Options / Cancel. I then see a drop-down list of one or more of my user IDs (depending on which first character I type in and how many accounts I have starting with that character), then when I select the required user ID, the password is auto-completed correctly. It seems that FF does not offer to save new user IDs and passwords on Yahoo but all of the existing ones work fine (after Tools/Options/Cancel). Regards, Steve.

I've found that I don't need to do the Tools / Options / Cancel - if I simply click on Tools, see the drop-down options but then click on an empty bit of the screen, to the right of Help (which then hides the drop-down Tools options), auto-complete works correctly. Surely this is a simple thing for FF to resolve? Steve
