Can not open the JSON file. Maybe if I can open it, I can save it as HTML Do you think so?

I haven't come across a "converter" for JSON to HTML for Bookmarks.

You need to restore a JSON bookmarks backup file; HTML bookmarks files are exported and imported.

If you need to preserve exiting bookmarks then export them to an HTML file. Then you can restore the JSON backup. That will replace all bookmarks and you can restore the HTML file afterward.

If you need to remove duplicates then see:

It seems to me the Backup, restore, save html, restore amounts to a conversion. Why not use that?

thank you eveybody. I neglected to mention the bookmarks i want to import into my minnesota computer are still on my california computer, except for the JSON file i saved them in (before leaving CA), which I transferred to MN on my memory stick. So all I have to work with here in MN is the JSON file, which I wish I knew how to convert to an HTML file.

Edmeister, I'm not clear how to restorre the JSON file. then would I be able to convert it to HTML?

VTDBA, sounds good. How do I back up the one JSON file and then restore it?

I do so appreciate all help.

Ctrl+Shift+B or Click Bookmarks in the Menu Bar. Click Import And Backup.

Click Backup first to save what you already have.

Then use it to restore the JSON file save it as HTML and restore what you backed up first. Do what you want with the rest.

My apologies for the delay getting back to you.

Sounds good, but now I've added important sites to my Minnesota file here. If I can restore the (California) JSON file, save it as HTML, then restore what I backed up here, will I lose what I recently entered? Thanks for your attention.

You first need to make an HTML backup of bookmarks that you currently have and do not want to lose before you restore a JSON backup because restoring a JSON backup will replace all the bookmarks with the ones in the backup file. See my above post.
