Says to update Java Console 6.0.02.03 & 6.0.01.02 - when done, then says to remove them

I often get a pop-up from Firefox saying to update with Java Console 6.0.02.03 and 6.0.01.02. After I click update and it's done, I get a notice that they are obsolete (or some such message) and Firefox removes them and tells me to re-start Firefox. How can I get Firefox to stop asking me to update/install those two Java Console versions.

Allan and Neal The problem is that Java is not good about cleaning up after itself when updating. The old Java Console versions will need to be manually deleted. Please carefully read: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions

If you need assistance identifying the exact folders to delete, post back, using the Names as your original posts with the following: -In Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, list all of the Java Console version numbers that you see -In Program Files > Mozilla Firefox > extensions, list exactly the FULL folder names that look like:

 (highlight added)

The folder name shown above is for the current version of Java Console 6.0.20.

Allan, you have the latest version of Java installed. Neal, I cannot see your version since you posted as a secondary poster in Allan's thread.

Other Issues: ~~red:You have installed plug-ins with known security issues. You should update them immediately.~~

Install/Update Adobe Reader for Firefox: your ver. 8.2.2; current ver. 9.3.2 ~~red:Check (some of) your plug-in versions here~~: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+the+Adobe+Reader+plugin+with+Firefox#Installing_and_updating_Adobe_Reader You may be able to update from the Adobe Reader installed on your system instead of going to the Adobe site and downloading. Start > Program Files, find and click Adobe Reader to open, click Help, click Check for Updates. If you go to the Adobe site to download the current Adobe Reader: -use Firefox to download and SAVE to your hard drive (save to Desktop for easy access) ~~red:-See the images at the bottom left of this post to see the steps to take on the Adobe site~~ -exit Firefox (File > Exit) -check to see that Firefox is completely closed (Ctrl+Alt+Del, choose Task Manager, click Processes tab, if "firefox.exe" is on the list, right-click "firefox.exe" and choose End process, close the Task Manager window) -double-click on the Adobe Reader installer you just downloaded to install/update Adobe Reader

Check your version of Foxit Reader Open Foxit Reader from Start > Programs > Foxit Reader, in the Foxit window, click Help > Check for Updates Now.

Hi TXGuy:

The Thanks was from me, not "Anonymous". I didn't fill my name in when I posted my reply. This is not like a regular forum, where one must log in before being able to post in a thread.

You're welcome. Assume all is well with you now.

Actually, you can post as a guest, as you have. In doing so, you must put a name in the space provided or it will default to Anonymous. In some cases, the name will default to the prior poster's name; just a little kink in the forum software.
