I need some help please. Ever since I upgraded to Thunderbird 91 the 'message sender' and 'message date' are automatically appended as a suffix to the default filename(the message subject) when using the save-as command to save an email in the '.eml' format. This causes problems when attaching the '.eml' file to one of the software packages that I must use. Can the automatic suffix be disabled? Thanks.

You are not the only person to find the chnages not exactly convenient.

Suggest you try the following. Download and install the addon 'ImportExportTools NG' https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools-ng/

How to install addon: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/installing-addon-thunderbird

Once installed: Menu app icon > Addons and Themes Select 'Extensions' The ImportExportToos NG addon will have a 'spanner' icon - click on it Select 'Filenames' tab 'Customised format for filenames' - select checkbox 'Use this format' There are various options incuding a blank option at the bottom of the drop down. This means if desired, you can select just 'Subject' or 'Subject and Date' and you can even Customise the date. Click on OK

In Thunderbird - right click on email/highlighted batch of emails and use 'Save messages as' > 'EML'
