Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Problem still exists in Safe mode. Firefox is slow to load web sites. and if I goto www.speedtest.net in firefox D/L speed is 30MBPS, but if I run the same test in IE the D/L speed is over 200MBPS.
Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Yes, I would say the problem is still there. In safe mode with networking IE gets over 300MBPS D/L and Firefox is getting 230 MBPS D/L. Firefox is better than the 180 MBPS when in regular mode but still slower than IE. Also Ping access times are slower in firefox with 16MS compared to IE with 5MS.
I was able to get firefox to go from 30MBPS to 180MBPS by completely uninstalling it and removing the directories and all registry entries and then doing a fresh install of firefox.
I called for more help.
Windows can reserve bandwidth for its own usage (quality-of-service). IE as being part of the OS can use the full capacity unlike Firefox.
I don't think that is the answer since I have other machines running firefox and IE and they don't respond with slower speeds. There is something causing this on this ONE machine. I guess I will just have to live with the problem. At least wiping out firefox and re-installing did speed it up to the point of being usable again, but I should not have to do that. There should have been a better way.
