I run three websites. One is personal (www.rossolson.org) and two are for non-profit organizations (www.outpostministries.org and www.tccsa.tc). All have site search through Google, my own site is paid to be ad-free, the non profits are free and without adds because of their non profit status. For a while now, site search does not work with Firefox for the non profit sites but does for the paid site. Chrome and IE work fine. Is there a solution? Some setting to activate? Is this Google's doing?

It's a little confusing to keep Windows accounts separate from Firefox profiles. When you install Firefox, your settings are stored in the user data of the user installing Firefox. If you created a new Windows account, you may need to copy between the two accounts to recover your settings. However, to avoid providing incorrect instructions, please be as clear as possible about what you did and your situation at this point.

All the directions that I was responding to are not showing up now. I had created a new Firefox account in the same Windows account but did a different name and put it in a separate folder as instructed. Even so, both accounts acted new -- the bookmarks were missing. I had them in the firefox on my other desktop and had created an html file of the user settings when I got hte present computer so I just put that back in. I have my settings now and like I said, this appears to be an issue with the computer so I will live with the present inconvenience hoping that Windows updates may solve it.

I hope Jeff understands what you are asking. I am not sure I do, but I will add some comments whilst waiting to see if Jeff responds further.

I am wondering

  • What is the HTML settings file you are asking about?
  • Are you asking about searching through the source code and uploaded files for the websites you may have created ?
Rather than trying to search the sites as an ordinary Firefox user ?

If you install a new instance of Firefox as an additional browser in the same Windows account.
