Hello,

I have a website and I cannot type anything in any textbox (e.g. search box) when using FireFox. I tried loading the site in Safe Mode with no effect, I still cannot type anything.

I have seen similar behavior, but it always seems to get fixed by disabling add-ons while in my case it doesn't.

I checked the site on Windows, Mac and Linux, on all it's the same behavior only when using FireFox. With all other browsers the site is fine and I can type in those text boxes.

Let me know if this has happened to anyone else, I'm trying to get this fixed as it's really annoying for the readers.

Thanks in advance!

I see the same on that web page.
It looks that some JavaScript on that page isn't working properly and thus doesn't select the text area or input field if you click it.
I can reach the input fields by pressing the Tab key until I get a cursor, so you can use that as a workaround for now.
You can contact the website and inform them that their website isn't working properly in Firefox.

Providing a link to that site might help. It could be some problem with the code which could be detected by verifying it with http://validator.w3.org.

Hello finitarry,

I have filled in the site in the question form and I thought it will be visible as I'm not looking for links or anything like that. Here it is: http://theunlockr.com. It runs on WordPress and I've been trying to find out what's wrong with no success.

If you have any hints they would be more than welcomed!

Thanks a lot for your reply!

Hi Cor-el,

I am actually working at the hosting company that hosts the site above and I'm trying to figure out what's going on as the owner reported that issue to me. I am aware that something is clearly not right, however I can't realize what it is.

Any help debugging this issue would really help me.

Thanks!

Thanks finitarry,

I have reduced the number of errors from 20 to 5. However the validator shows for some reason the errors for the mobile page as the first error is about this tag:

<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="no">

So this isn't actually helping me debug the text fields issue. Is there any other source to validate the desktop version except w3?

A good place to ask advice about web development is at the MozillaZine "Web Development/Standards Evangelism" forum.

The helpers at that forum are more knowledgeable about web development issues.
You need to register at the MozillaZine forum site in order to post at that forum.

Thanks cor-el,

I started a new topic over there and I'll post here the solution if I find it.

Best, Pedro

I managed to fix the issue by removing one by one the scripts from the page and in the end the issue was coming form a faulty script. Thanks all for your help and suggestions.
