Cannot get Firefox back and the only thing that comes up is My Web Search

more options

I am trying to get back on Mozilla Firefox but can only use Explorer. Something happened yesterday and I lost Firefox and the only thing coming up was My Web Search. I downloaded free version of malware and scanned and deleted My Web Search. I have deleted all My Web Search files from my C drive but none of them show up in Add/Remove programs and when I do a search it is not found. I have deleted and downloaded Firefox several times but when I try to open it up all I get is the My Web Search page again with no tabs or anything at top or bottom. I have also rebooted several times. I have been using Firefox for years and cannot understand what is going on. Help!

Hi ofinalee,

I'd try starting Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide and the Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems article as well.

You could also try creating a new profile.

You could also take a look at our Malware section to see if you might have missed some tools that could be useful.

Hopefully this helps!

You may need to reset Firefox's default Search engine, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ can help with that.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

If you open Firefox, and hit F11, does that change anything?
