Under FF 5.0, the updating of add-ons doesn't stick, requiring updating after every FF restart. Is there a fix?

Every time I restart FF 5.0, I have to update numerous add-ons that are flagged as incompatible. Using the update tool, the add-ons do update and operate correctly. Unfortunately, they work only during that session. When I restart FF for any reason, including a restart of the PC (Vista-64) or a reboot, the updating is lost.

This requires starting FF twice to achieve functionality.
