My previous version of FF installed 12 months ago, and updated periodically since, failed to open. I therefore uninstalled and downloaded Firefox 3.6 from your website. Went through "run" process and seemed to be OK, but received this error message - "Error: Platform version 1.9.2.14 is not compatible withminVersion >= 1.9.2.15 maxVersion < =1.9.2.15." I hope you can provide me with a reason for and a solution to this problem. Thank you.

Do a clean (re-)install:

  • Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
  • Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
  • Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
  • It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Thank you cor-el for responding. Have followed instructions, regret result is that I am getting the same error message as before. Do you have any more words of wisdom?!
