can't remove Inbox search engine

more options

I installed Inbox but did not like it and tied to uninstall. That did not work. I got an error message with the option to remove Inbox from the Program files list which I did. Inbox may not have an uninstall feature? I also removed it successfully from the add on list as well as search engine list but it still popped up. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it still pops up. It is a total nuisance. Any help appreciated. none of the measures recommended in previous thread worked.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== i installed Inbox

"I got an error message with the option to remove Inbox from the Program files list which I did. Inbox may not have an uninstall feature?"

Did it uninstall from Add or Remove Programs? What was the error message? Is it on the Add or Remove Programs list now? Did you have Firefox closed when you tried to uninstall from Add or Remove Programs?

"...it still pops up."

What pops-up? A toolbar? A web page when you first start Firefox?

Is this what you are seeing? http://toolbar.inbox.com/faq.aspx

If so: http://toolbar.inbox.com/faq.aspx?faqid=2876&faqmod=WST_Install

Then you may need to reset your homepage: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page

In box search completely blocks google. I can't find it to remove. I did remove it earlier but it is back and can't find it in search or on control panel in any of its guises.

I didn't even get an error message. Everything seems to be removed yet when I resign on there it is. Also it is still in my search engine list. I have removed this completely in my computer along with the cookies. It's like a stain you can't get out of the carpet!!

Also the Crawler was downloaded with this Inbox search engine. I have removed this from my computer also but it doesn't go away from the search engine list either.

Inbox apparently installed itself. Unable to locate in programs and features, also followed instructions on inbox site that were incorrect. I used to type just anything in the awesome bar and get great results now if you don't type the correct site info inbox interferes. I am thinking about professional help. I dislike being pushed into something. all help appreciated. Thanks, GA

I had the same trouble trying to get rid of Inbox Search Engine but managed to do it. I went to Firefox "Add Ons " in the toolbar and then removed Inbox from the list. On restarting Firefox the unwanted search engine disappered.

Hi

I have had the same problem with Inbox toolbar. There is a solution! I have finally removed it from 2 laptops one running WinXP the other Win7

For the solution go to http://barsoapnatural.com/blog/get-rid-of-inbox-as-default-search-engine/ Yes I know it's selling homemade soap but believe me they have got the solution.

Quoting from their blog........ All you have to do is start Firefox then type “about:config” in your address bar (no quotation marks, though). The next screen says something about voiding your warranty, but I clicked OK, and moved on. Even if my warranty is voided (which I doubt it is), it is totally worth it because INBOX IS DEAD!! Then, type “Inbox” (again, no quotes) in the search bar. For each result that comes up, right click on it, and select “reset.” Close the page, and you’re done.

I've copied this from their site and would have bought some soap from them but they don't ship to the UK
