I have a problem with one mail server for several days.

Thunderbird downloads late and all the time the same e-mails that it has already downloaded.

I checked and there is only one e-mail on the server, as it should be.

I checked all the settings and they look ok.

what could be causing such sudden problem?

re : I checked and there is only one e-mail on the server

This sounds like you use a POP account and you have not selected to 'keep messages on server' meaning when they download they get deleted off server.

The issue you describe usually occurs if there is an email causing a 'log jam' on the server. That email could be in the 'Inbox' or it may have been in the Inbox and has been moved by the server to the 'Spam' folder. Standard advice is to logon to the webmail account and see if there are any emails in the 'Spam' folder and the 'Trash' folder. If yes then empty the Spam and the Trash folders. If the email in Inbox has not been downloaded - in Thunderbird now try 'Get Messages' to see if emptying the Spam and Trash folders resolved the issue. If you have already downloaded that email in Inbox which is still on server, then delete that email.

Two choices.

1. Disable email scanning in your anti virus. It is that which is causing the jam as it chokes and dies when it does not get what it expects. 2. Log in using a web browser and empty the spam folder on the browser web mail

Both bypass the anti virus because the first turns it off and the second it is not mail to be scanned, but a web page..
