I have recently moved to firefox after being a chrome user for more than 6 years. Everything is fine but there is no option to unclose a window in firefox. I usually work with 20-30 tabs at the same time and to close a tab I use ctrl-w. But sometimes, I hit ctrl-q which closes the entire window and it just makes me feel like I should move to chrome again. In chrome, even after I closed the window there was an option to restore the closed window. In firefox there is also an option, but it doesnt work if you were working with only one window. My only wish in life is to change the keyboard shortcut ctrl-q to something else.

There is a menu item to reopen recently closed window in the History menu, just like there is for tabs.

  • History -> Recently Closed Tabs/Windows
  • you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily

You can check the startup setting. "Show my windows and tabs from last time" is safest when it comes to restoring accidentally closed windows.

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Startup: "When Firefox starts":
    "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    "Show my home page"
    "Show a blank page"
