I have always been able to access hotmail.com on the firefox browser in the past, but as of today, every time I try to open hotmail.com I get this message.......

Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to outlook.live.com. Invalid OCSP signing certificate in OCSP response. Error code: SEC_ERROR_OCSP_INVALID_SIGNING_CERT The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

There is nothing wrong with the www.hotmail.com URL. I can access it easily from internet explorer and it is a very well known website which I have used daily for years. I have never received this error message before and am having no trouble accessing other websites using firefox - only hotmail. My OS is windows 7.

Please help.

Unfortunately Microsoft has misconfigured a security feature (OCSP stapling) on their servers which got now cached in your local firefox installation.

In order to resolve that, please enter about:config into the Firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) and search for the preference named security.ssl.enable_ocsp_stapling. Double-click it and change its value to false - this will degrade a security feature in Firefox, so please revisit it in a couple of days again after Microsoft has fixed their stuff and turn it back on again then.
