I have been using Firefox for years. Now I can't even load it or even after I update it. I get the following errors:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox must be closed to open a new window."

When I click "Close Firefox" I get "Profile Missing Box" with "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible"

I have deleted Firefox, downloaded new version, still get the error.

Firefox will not open.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

You may have a corrupt profiles.ini file.’’'Close Firefox. Open your file browser to this hidden location:

  • Mac: *~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
  • Linux: *~/.mozilla/firefox/
  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
  • *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\

Locate the profiles.ini file. Then rename or delete it.

Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile If you still have an existing profile then click "Choose Folder" in the Profile Manager and browse to the location of a lost profile to recover this profile https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing+profiles

Hi didn't have that file profiles.ini

I am using windows 7 and installed the latest version of Firefox, which I thought would fix the problem. I unstalled the previous version.

Any other thoughts on how to fix this?
