I would like to add a folder to my bookmarks library. After opening the Library Manager I right click where the folder is to be created and the dialog box is opened but is cut-off within the Library Manager. The input edit control is not visible. Only the text boxes on the control are visible.

I have attached a screenshot for reference.

Let's try this first,

You may have a corrupt xulstore.json file.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the xulstore.json file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

I opened Finder to the Profile directory, shutdown Firefox and deleted xulstore.json. After restarting Firefox the problem remains the same as seen in the screenshot.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

As a temporary workaround, click the parent folder in the left column, then New Folder should appear on the right side so you can select it and use the editing controls at the bottom of the right pane to rename it.

The problem exists in safe mode as well.

After clicking the parent folder in the left column how is New Folder supposed to happen? Right-clicking the parent folder or inside the parent folder does not enable me to edit the folder name since the edit control is inaccessible.

Is that pop-up connected to the item in the right pane and if you right-click an item further down does that work?

Can you right-click in the left pane to create this folder if you move to a convenient position?

Does Mac support a system menu that you can open on other platforms (Windows, Linux) via Alt+Space?

Here's a screen shot of what I mean. This assumes you add the new folder with its default name of New Folder.

Once the Add Folder dialog box is shown the application switches to a modal state and the LMB no longer works. Using the RMB to click a bookmark fills the NAME, LOCATION & TAG field of the dialog box.

Clicking ADD does not do anything!

The Library Manager creates the NEW FOLDER folder and enters into a modal dialog state. Clicking ADD does not do anything. The dialog box only responds to CANCEL so NEW FOLDER is removed after clicking CANCEL.

Hmm, clicking Add doesn't do anything. This is sounding more like broken software rather than a broken setting. Can you trash the Firefox executable and reinstall it without erasing settings? I know how that works on Windows, but I do not know how it works on Mac...

I deleted the Firefox package from /Applications and I removed my Firefox profile folder. After downloading and restarting Firefox the problem remains.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder. See also:

I deleted the Firefox application as well as my profile folder but the issue was not resolved.

Since deleting my original profile I have continued troubleshooting the issue. I logged into an Administrator account under OSX El Capitan and found the problem persists account wide under OSX.

Am I the only person with this issue?
