Dear Mozillians,

We currently offer Firefox RR 33.0.0.2 in our Enterprise environment (without automatic updating). I created a new package in SCCM to deploy Firefox RR 38.0.0.5606 using the install.cmd (see the first image I attached). With this deployment I also made a custom Mozilla.cfg file to enable automatic updates, the wish is to allow silent updates. Though after 3 days of testing with arguments using the Mozilla Wiki in the Mozilla.cfg (see the second image I attached) file I cant get Firefox to automatically search and install the update to a newer version (RR 39.0.0.5659), but when I click "Help - About Firefox" in the browser it immediatly starts to download/install the update and asks me to restart the browser, it then succesfully installs the update.

We tried using several accounts (admin/users) and even with machines outside the network and no policies but all without success.

On the internet I can find a lot of information about disabling automatic updates, but what we want is the opposite, we want Firefox to update on the users workstations as soon as there is a new update available on the "release" channel, that's also the reason why we've chosen to use the Rapid Release version.

I hope you guys can help me with the right settings to force Firefox to check for updates and installing them almost directly after starting the browser (if it's possible without prompting the user). We have a group policy that can copy the Mozilla.cfg file to the Mozilla Firefox install directory on the client workstation but also copy the config file during the installation (see attached image 1).

Thanks in advance and I can provide you with all information that is needed for troubleshooting.

Why are you deploying Regular version of Firefox instead of ESR? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
