Why can't i log into thunderbird without having to enter a password.
until recently i was able to close and open thunderbird without having to enter any password. but now for some reason i have to enter my google password each and every time i open thunderbird and it is very annoying. it does offer to use a master password which i STILL would have to use each time what good is that???? why can't i simply open t-bird and get my mail as i always could before?

This seemed to work for someone else.
You were 100% right... starting in safe mode DID allow the "remove password" option to come up

Tell Thunderbird to remember your password.
If you choose to set a master password you'd have to enter it once each time Thunderbird starts. Read this article to understand what a master password does. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password
How do I ask thunderbird to reset my password.
Why when I click on the reset my password it take me to an add to download a program. I just had a bunch of viruses taken off my computer and when my computer came back my thunderbird had to be downloaded again but my password will not open my mail account and it will not accept a new password. Is there a number I can call for support?
The big question is why you are posting in an unrelated thread. You can start your own thread for your issue. They are free.
There is no Reset your Password link in Thunderbird so who knows what you are trying to do there. Thunderbird has nothing to do with administering your email password. You do that with your email provider.
