Using an Imap account we are having an issue where we move one message on one machine but it is not always updating this on another machine. If we check on a webmail client the message has been moved, if we check in the folder where the message has been moved to it is there as well as still in the INBOX on Thunderbird.

It isn't all the time and have only noticed it in the INBOX folder. Sometimes restarting Thunderbird works, often not. The only fix I have found is to right click the folder and repair but that isn't really a viable solution.

Any idea's anyone - greatly appreciated!

how many devices are connected to this one IMAP account?

How frequently are emails being checked Tools menu (Alt+T) > account settings > server settings. If it is less that 15 minutes change it to 15 minutes.

Hi, thanks for that - no effect though. At times there are 5 PC's connected but this can happen when it is just two, move a message on one, the other wont update, I can also connect from an iphone which always updates just fine if that helps.

disconnect any iDevices from the account. And I mean all. for the next little bit

Tools menu > account settings > server settings > Advanced and change the number of connections to cache to 1.

Try it a while and see what happens. Not iDevices do not have an option to throttle the number of connections and they will totally monopolize an IMAP servers available logins resulting in nothing else updating. This is not an issue if you only have an iDevice.

Hi, in the mean time we have installed PostBox on all the PC's, despite running on the same platform (apparently) it works fine on all the computers as it should so I cant see turning off the Iphone emails can be the issue). I would still prefer Thunderbird if there are any other idea's please.
