I can't recall seeing the tooltip. Where does it appear? You could post a screen shot if the steps to reproduce it are complicated (attach it using the button below the text box where you compose your reply). This article has some tips on that: How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Any chance that you are using some type of dialup internet service with a speed booster?

Doesn't sound like a Firefox feature. Please provide a screenshot of that tooltip, I have never seen one such as that.

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

Yes, I am on Cricket (low speed) broadband and the images are compressed and low quality. The tooltip tells you how to improve the image quality. It's very annoying and blocks being able to see image effects because it takes up so much room.

Correction: If the website does not compress its images, then my ISP compresses them and this tooltip is added in. Shift+R to improve image quality, Shift+A to improve all images

Any idea how to get rid of it?

Fixed it. Had to get an add-on that blocks header injection by my ISP.

So what is the solution ??? this tooltip is bloody annoying !!!!!

Hi gdav, it depends. If you don't mind having the images compressed and just want to get rid of the messages, you can try to filter or block the script that generates the tooltips. If you want to get the original images, you need to figure out whether you can change the settings in your connection software.

If you search on the following page for AdBlock, you will see a suggestion for one way to filter the script. Note that each ISP might have a different name and address for its script, so you probably need to take a peek at the source code (Ctrl+u) for a simple page, or a few different pages, to spot the one that's coming from your ISP's server.

SHIFT+R improves image quality

Thanks very much, jscher2000, for pointing my nose in the right direction.

I my case, the annoying mouseover/hover text replaces those of my own HTML-coded hover text that gives details for scheduled calendar events. I'm using Toast.net via the venerable MiFi2200 (3G vintage). The images themselves are acceptably sharp, but the slammed-over text just about vitiates the usefulness of my present calendar design.

Since my present concern is not for my own enjoyment but as a web author, I'm not planning to solve it for myself. I'll leave it unfiltered to remind me of an unusable HTML feature, and redesign so as not to depend on hover text until doomsday.

Vodafone pocketWiFi2 is my ISP - and the Technician says it is Browser-based. I have AdBlock add-on.

You will have to contact your ISP and ask them if you can opt-out of this feature to send images compressed in lower quality.
