I am running Firefox 99.0.1. Lately (probably since the last update) when browsing the web, Firefox will lockup and not be responsive to clicks on hyper links. The issue goes away when I close Firefox and re-open, but after clicking on 3 or four links, it locks up again. MS Edge does not have this problem with the same websites. I did notice in Task Manager that Firefox is opening up 10 processes. Can anyone give some suggestions?

More than one process is normal for the current Firefox. http://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/

Multi-process Firefox is codenamed "e10s". https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/multiprocess

Did you close Firefox the normal way, or by using the computer's Task Manager?

When you were browsing the web, were you on different websites or the same ones?

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

10 processes is not out of the ordinary. Do you have a way of monitoring CPU and RAM usage? You could check that when a lock up occurs.

I am able to close Firefox the normal way (clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner). This happens on most if not all websites. I did try troubleshooting mode, but the issue still remained. RAM and CPU usage looks normal during the issue.

It looks like two web sites are causing most of the issues: www.cnet.com and AVSForum.com . AVSForum is the worst. Interestingly Microsoft Edge has no problem with either of these web sites.
