I am using Thunderbird 68.4.2. I tried changing password settings on Thunderbird and ATT/Yahoo because I noticed returned emails in my spam folder on ATT. Emails I never sent, so I thought I might have been hacked. Thunderbird stopped sending or receiving emails. I went and reset all passwords. I still get my emails on Yahoo, but Thunderbird is not sending or receiving. when sending, I get "Login to server outbound.att.net with username [email protected] failed." Again, I have checked my passwords and server settings. They are matching. Would appreciate any help.

When you reset passwords, did you delete the old ones from Saved Passwords in TB, restart TB, and enter the new ones when prompted? Are you using secure mail keys in place of the account passwords?

Interesting. My old settings were inbound.att.net . With that entered, I checked my passwords, and it shows pop,mail.yahoo.com. I am not using secure mail keys. What is baffling to me is that I changed nothing when this messed up. Also, Yahoo has shut down offices due to the covid, so getting any phone help will be tough. Should I try secure mail keys if the other way is not working?

I would try applying secure keys, and also suggest using the Yahoo servers directly, as described here. Create a new profile if you want to test that approach, from Help/Troubleshooting, about:profiles, without affecting the current profile.

Firefox is not allowing an encrypted mail key

How is Firefox involved here? You create a key on the AT&T site and use it in TB in place of the regular account password.
