Youtube 4K 30/60P are playing fine on my overclocked AMD Vega 11 GPU at mid-level GPU utlisation, however 24P videos show a lot of judder clearly due to improper 3:2 pulldown.

Contrary to common understanding, it's not a dropping frame issue, there's no dropped frames. Also, this does not happen to 1440P and below videos.

In comparison, MS Edge classic plays flawlessly even without taxing GPU 3D engine, only Video Decode; Chromium based browsers use nearly 90% of the GPU 3D power but they play nicely too, only stutter when overlay shows and limited by hardware capability.

Adrenaline driver 19.9.2 used, so far the most stable driver for my hardware.

Ryzen 5 [email protected], Vega 11@1650Mhz, DDR4 16GB dual channel @3333Mhz, Gigabyte B450 I Aorus Pro Wifi.

I'm replying to myself in case this helps other people with the same issue.

I used the old fashioned manual driver install method to update my GPU driver to the latest 2020 version, from decompressed EXE provided on AMD website.

By doing this my previous Radeon software 2019 version was unchanged, only the new driver installed, which lets me confirm most of the stability issues (although not all) are caused by the new Radeon software, the driver itself seems relatively stable, at least for the Vega GPU, can't say about Navi as I don't have any.

Now after the drive update, I haven't seen 3:2 pulldown judder so far, GPU 3D usage also decreased to less than half of what I used to see, this has been, cautiously speaking as I don't want to jinx it, the best I've experienced since switching to the Ryzen APU.

I can't recommend AMD graphics given how much time and effort I have invested to get GPU related issues partly solved, however much money saved on the AMD hardware compared to an Intel/Nvidia build isn't worth the headache it gave me.
