print error while print web page.

more options

I want to print a web page and get the error message . I can print a web page from a different user. So, I think the problem is with the prefs.js file. I have tried to compare the files between the two users, but I am not sure what to look for.

Thanks, Rodney

Hi Rodney, is the small dialog with the ambiguous error?

Most of what you see in the prefs.js file can be reset or edited through the about:config page so I suggest trying that approach:

Printer Settings Reset

Sometimes Firefox has inaccurately stored details from the Windows print driver, or the data has become corrupted. If you haven't already tried the following, please do:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste print and pause while the list is filtered

(3) For each setting that specifically mentions the problem printer, right-click and Reset it. The fastest way is to right-click with the mouse and then press the r key on the keyboard with your other hand.

Any improvement?

There are not any printers listed. I sent a screen shot.

Thanks Rod

Hmm, that's strange. Firefox should be able to discover your default printer. Does Windows set up printers by user?? If the same user tries to print from another application such as Internet Explorer, can that application find the default printer?

Yes, if I print a web page from Chrome everything will print just fine or Word. Both print drive and Firefox has be reinstalled. I do know I can not delete the prefs.js file. Some make it reappearing when Firefox restarts.

Hi Rod, Firefox records various information in the prefs.js file such as the optimal cache size, the last time it checked for updates, and your settings for home page, new tab page pinned tiles, and other preferences. If you delete prefs.js, Firefox will start a new one.

It sounds like Firefox does not see your system's printers. I don't know what is causing that. Hopefully another support volunteer will have an idea.
