If I type a URL for a bookmark, does that URL remain unchanged or might it change on its own? For example, I created a bookmark for https://cmiccloud.com I noticed that if I go to cmiccloud.com, it automatically redirects to https://cmiccloud.com/cmicprod/SdMenu/ssoLogin as of today. Might the bookmark inadvertently update the Location URL to match the longer URL because of the redirecting? I would prefer that the URL Location destination for the bookmark stays as the simple URL https://cmiccloud.com and not change to a longer URL, because I've been told by this site's host that the longer URL to which it's currently redirecting might not always be valid. In other words, I want the URL locked down. I am finding that some of my colleagues' bookmarks have the longer URL, and I want to know if it's possible that Firefox did that automatically, as opposed to one of our own personnel doing it manually. Also, is there any difference in how Firefox treats a HOME page, as opposed to a BOOKMARK, in terms of how locked-down the URL is?

If your system saves the cookie or history it will display the matching url you just have to not select the one that pops so you don't go to that site directly.
If you create the bookmark yourself or edit the URL of a bookmark then the URL if that bookmark is fixed to what you have set. If a website redirects you to a specific page via a location header in the HTTP response headers then you can't prevent this in most cases.
In this case there are two location redirects from https://cmiccloud.com. Location: https://cmiccloud.com/cmicprod/SdMenu/AppSelector.jsp Location: https://cmiccloud.com/cmicprod/SdMenu/ssoLogin So you end up on the ssoLogin page. You can see this in the Network Monitor.

Gathering from what I have read from the responses of cor-el and WestEnd, would it be correct to say the following? if you type cmiccloud.com in your address bar, let the site redirect, and then click “bookmark this page,” it will use one of the possible long URLs, whichever one it redirected to that day. But if you manually right click in your bookmarks toolbar and choose “New Bookmark,” or go into the properties of the existing bookmark, and manually type it so that the Location is just the short URL https://cmiccloud.com, then the URL is “fixed” to only be bookmarked to that short URL, and the redirection will occur afresh every time you go to the bookmark, which is what we want according to the CMIC site's support staff. A home page is the same; if you type cmiccloud.com in your address bar, let the site redirect, then go to Options – homepage – set to current, it will use one of the possible long URLs, whichever one it redirected to that day. But if you manually type the home page URL https://cmiccloud.com, then the URL is “fixed” to only be bookmarked to that short URL, and the redirection will occur afresh every time you go to the bookmark, which is what we want according to the CMIC site's support staff.
If you want to have a fixed URL and always set the website redirect you then you need to create the bookmark yourself and set the short URL manually or click the highlighted star and modify the long URL in the location field. That should do the job.
