Ever since the update of Thunderbird to Ver. 41 it is setting itself as the preferred application for browsing the web in Linux Mint 17.2?
What could be causing Thunderbird to set itself as the preferred browser client in Linux Mint 17.2. If I reset it to Firefox, the next time I open Thunderbird, it again resets the preferred client setting to Thunderbird. Than when I do open Firefox, it pops up a window stating it is not the default browser, asking if I want to change. When I click yes, any Hyperlink I clicked in Thunderbird previously will now appear in new tabs.
How do I fix this?

You do realize that you are running pre-release versions of Thunderbird if the version number is greater than 38.
Hi Matt. Thanks for the answer. The Firefox version is 41 and the Thunderbird version is 38.2. The problem went away after the update to Firefox. I'm guessing the problem was not actually with Thunderbird, but in how Firefox was recognized by Mint.
