I am using Windows 10 on an Aspire E17. After startup over the last month or more, I have found that Firefox is taking an exxxxxtremely long time to load - something approaching 10 minutes at time. I have the opening page set as Google and that seems to be the one that loads the longest, others pages less so. Some of this is also due to Windows' MsMpEng.exe, which is of the habit of hogging around 100% of memory resources according to task manager.

Any suggestions?

Thank you. I appreciate the response. But I said that MsMpEng.exe was only PART of the problem. This slowness is occurring also at times when MsMp is not doing its thing, So any other suggestions as to what is going on?

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
