If Firefox is open, system hangs, runs slowly, loses mouse functionality, and automatically toggles between open programs. Started after an update several months ago. The next update fixed issues, but the following update brought them back. After an update this morning, everything got worse, so I uninstalled Firefox, and everything improved. But I need it back - I use the internet for a bunch of stuff.

Am operating on Windows 7 Professional.

Switching to the 32 bit version got rid of all of the issues I reported earlier. But a new problem occurred after I did the installation. I am not able to use embedded links; for example if there is a link in an e-mail I get a message something to the effect that You cannot do this operation from this computer - see your system administrator. This is a standalone desktop with only one user - me. I figure there is a setting somewhere, but cannot find it.

That sounds like a system issue. I called for more help.
