Firefox is my default browser under Windows 10. Windows Mail is supposed to automatically open a link in Firefox; it doesn't. I have to copy the link, bring up Firefox, and "Paste and Go" the link. I end up reinstalling Firefox fairly often because of this. Obviously, W10 is tinkering with the Firefox code. How do I debug this?

Hello crogerblair1.

This must be really frustrating. I presume that you have set Firefox as the default browser in the settings (Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs).

The problem you are describing is most likely created by either the operating system or another program. These programs can include "service software" but also adware or malware. I would suggest you scan for these types of programs. If anything like this would be the cause however, the standard browser should change for the whole operating system. Is that the case for you?

Good luck and if you have any more questions please write back.

dario.be, thanks for your suggestion I ran all my Av apps but found nothing. Since the problem only appeared in Mail, I tried running the App Troubleshooter, which fixed the problem. Now I know what to do the next time this happens.

Many thanks.
