How do I save webpages under their actual filename?
When saving a web page .../foo.html I want the saved page to be called "foo.html" and not have the page title. Often page titles are really inconvenient: they contain spaces and special symbols. I cannot easily save under the actual filename. Copy and paste fails because the save dialog has grabbed the mouse pointer.

Firefox will use the page title -- the text that appears on the tab or in the Title Bar -- unless it is blank. So... you can blank out the title as a workaround.
One way to do that is to save a script as a button on your Bookmarks Toolbar or Bookmarks Menu and click that when you want to zap the title. I posted one on Christmas Day 2015 here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1101011#answer-822477
Does that help?

As far as I know you do not. Once bookmarked you can put mouse over on the URL, right click then Properties and strip the Title out that way and then type what you want or copy/paste the Title from the web page.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
I understand that you say that Firefox cannot use the original name as the filename for the saved page. That would be sad.
You said something about bookmarks, but I do not understand you. I want to save the page, not add the URL to a bookmark folder.

Yes, adding a ZapTitle bookmark worked. Very good. Still, it would be better if there were an about:config option, so that no manual action is required.
Unfortunately, support volunteers can't help with program changes. There's a feedback site to suggest new features:

If this was something you need to use all the time, you could use a user script (in Greasemonkey, Tampermonkey, or the oddly named Violentmonkey) to change the title automatically after the page loads. On some sites, this may be more annoying than helpful if you tend to look at your tabs a lot.
