Hi folks, I'm the I.T. manager at an environment that uses Firefox. I've used it for years, so I have a clear idea of its baseline performance. But I have a single Windows 7 64-bit PC where, in the last 48 hours or so, Firefox has started running very slow. I've performed the following to troubleshoot: 1. Rebooted the PC. 2. Confirmed that overall CPU, HDD, RAM, Network and Paging resources aren't abnormally taxed; 3. Confirmed that Firefox's CPU/RAM consumption isn't abnormally high (it's consuming around 100 Mb); 4. Emptied Firefox's cache; 5. Un-/Re-installed Firefox; 5. Created a new Firefox profile with firefox.exe -p. I've made that Profile the default, and deleted the original. (Even the firefox -p tool gave a latency of around 5 seconds between clicking a button and seeing a result); 6. Disabled all extensions. 7. Run the Firefox Refresh tool, and saw it report 'success'. 8. Disabled AV (TrendMicro Worry-free Business). But the sluggishness remains. For example: 1. To maximise a Chrome window takes about 0.5 seconds; FF takes 3.0 seconds. Restoring the windows to their previous dimensions yields the same result. 2. Clicking in the Address Bar to produce a cursor: the latency is around 2 - 3 seconds. 3. Typing a URL in the Address Bar: similar latency. 4. Opening www.google.com in Firefox: the latency is 54 seconds from typing the URL/pressing ENTER, and the page fully loading. In Chrome it's 1.5 seconds. (PING times from this PC to google.com are, on average, 9.25ms.) No other Firefox users on our network are affected. Looking forward to your advice.
