Firefox crashes
The crash happens each time I try to upload any attachment to an email message. When I open the dialogue box to attach a file to a message or to any other web form the crash happens.
A recent crash ID is: 8c04ee45-9efd-452c-ba83-54a762150123 It is found in this link: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/8c04ee45-9efd-452c-ba83-54a762150123

Hi Gentleman_1
Thanks for the crash report ID. Could you post another 2 or 3 of them. Note also if you include the preceding bp- the forum software generates and displays a link {but only AFTER you make the post,it is not seen in preview).
- Presumably you have seen
Firefox crashes - asking for support
Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)
I do not have the knowledge to understand that report but you could try using Fireofx's safe mode does that help ? and if not please post a CashID from a safe mode crash.
I think the add-ons may be download status bar and build-iveCD . No reason to say they are part of the issue but let's rule it out. I am also not familiar with WinPatrol although it is probably harmless, and not listed in the crashing thread.
- This bp8c04ee45-9efd-452c-ba83-54a762150123
Displays as bp-8c04ee45-9efd-452c-ba83-54a762150123 - Crash Signature: SHUnicodeToAnsiCP
Ok here are some more crash reports IDs with bp.
bp-ba75b12d-32c6-4cc3-b2d9-f82812150122 bp-f1c6643f-deed-4673-8fbf-49d4b2150122 bp-d3e080d6-04ce-42cc-b6ed-5a1822150106
I will try the safe mode. Sometimes I get an error message that the plugin container has crashed. but how to repair that?
Winpatrol is a utility software for computer security that has been in my computer for years.
i have just run FF in safe mode. The crash happened as before. This is the crash ID:
bp-82582013-807a-4b02-98be-916662150130
I also got the error message about the plug in container crash as attached pic. Any ideas?
The error message is from Windows. It relates to plugincontainer and that is often used by FlashPlayer.
Have you got any CrashIDs from when using Firefox's SafeMode ?
The last crash ID was from the safe mode. My flash player is up to date. What else can I do about it?
The crash report flagged these programs;
Signature ThunkOpenFileNameW2A
Signature SHUnicodeToAnsiCP
Pshfhlp.dll = PSHotFolders ?
spi.dll = Ashampoo FireWall ?
patrolpro.dll = BillP Studios Window Detection
zshext.dll = Zinio Application
odbcint.dll = Microsoft ODBC Resource
xpsp2res.dll = Microsoft
icudt52.dll = International Components for Unicode
Perform a System File Check to fix corrupted system files http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
See if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
Check for updates for the above programs.
I use Win XP SP3, Can I still use the link for checking system files in Win 7? Search for update for WinXP didnt provide any new entries and graphic adapter comes from Intel with no new drivers. Other software dont have new versions either but they have been with me for a long time.
I am rather suspicious of the file pshfhlp.dll The file is directly involved in your crashing thread. What I did find does not inspire confidence of it being good or essential

- http://www.runscanner.net/lib/pshfhlp.dll.html
Fred may have discovered more.
- Can you tell from your system, is it part of WinPatrol ?
- It may be worth disabling, or even temporarily uninstalling WinPatrol to see if that helps ?
- Also try running in Windows' own SafeMode with networking
- Use the F8 key whilst booting
- See http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx

Your FlashPlayer crashes are a separate matter. Do you get Firefox crash reports about those crashes or hangs ?
The first thing to do is ensure FlashPlayer is fully updated, the latest updates were only a day or so ago.
- See Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems
- Use https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck
and https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ {Take care with bundled software)
- Use https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck
I know that pshfhlp.dll is a part of the program PS Hot folders not Winpatrol
http://www.pssoftlab.com/download.phtml
That is a great program which takes you to different locations of the Win Explorer easily and quickly. It opens a dialogue window and lets you choose which folder you want to go to on your system. It has been on my computer for a long time but I also suspect it for the crash may be due to changes in sys files themselves. I have a portable version of it so I uninstalled the original one and will see if FF crashes again.
Winpatrol is a system security program which tells me if any program makes changes to the system
I check the flash player update often but the crash took place when the plug in was up to date. FF shows crash incidence when it crashes. I have disabled the hardware acceleration from the player and will see what happens with the plug-in container crashes.
