Videos works just in safemode, otherwise just sound plays
Hello Im using Firefox 13.1 and flash 11.3 On sites like metacafe i cannot play videos, everything is blank or white but sound is playing. I uninstalled and made clean install of firefox so no new addons are installed just nvidia, shockwave, flash and adobe reader and thats all.
If i use firefox in safe mode then it works perfectly and have no problem with anything. Tried to disable hardware acceleratin inf flash player but again i was able to open flash setting just in safe mode otherwise te settings wont open just the global settings the normal flash setting dont open. also tried to uninstall flash 11.3 and go back to 10 but that doesnt helped.
im using firefox for 8 years and hope i wont be in a need to change it, because until now i really liked it,

Did you actually confirm by
- counting the number of instances of plugincontainer that protected mode is off,
- and also by checking the content of the mms.cfg file .
Apparently regardless of the FlashPlayer version the installer used may alter this setting.
I am rather clutching at straws here because logically it is the hardware acceleration that I was expecting to be the problem, and then I would have suggested checking for a graphics driver update.
- Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
- and also see general information in Fix common audio and video issues
- one other tip I found is to clear Flash Cookies (LSO) /questions/922907#answer-319555
Presumably you have problems with all videos, not just certain sites, you could try the sound and video links in this Adobe thread

Hi Ricksie,
Sorry you are having problems.
First of all try turning off hardware acceleration in Firefox, that may well be the cause of the problem. see
- Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems_turn-off-hardware-acceleration
Firefox 13.0.2 was released very recentl, partly to deal with some of the FlashPlayer problems. Try updating to that, it should not harm and it may help.
Check the exact version of FlashPlayer, because again it was updated very recently
- The latest version is Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 for Firefox (Windows)
- it is available from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
- if with Flash Player enabled you visit the site http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ that will confirm the version that you have installed, and what the current latest version is
Two of the effects of safe mode are disabling add-ons (but not obviously not plugins such as Flash ) and turning off hardware acceleration. If you have no add-ons and have tried with hardware acceleration off I am not sure why it works in safe mode. (I assume you are meaning Firefox's safe mode not Windows safe mode).
At present the situation with Flash Player seem to be changing every few days. Post back with how you get on.
Perhaps it is a protected mode problem. (Although;if so; I do not know why it does not happen in Safe Mode.) If using task manager you see 2 instances of plugincontainer for a single video instead of seeing one in safe mode then it is a protected mode problem. Read this article for more information and instructions on disabling safe mode:

Hello John
- I have now Firefox 13.0.2 that didn't fix the problem
- Also have the latest version of shockwave flash11.3.300.262 also didn't fix
- Hardware acceleration is also turned off but still nothing
- i have just one plugin container in safe and in normal mode too and the newest flash player automatically turns off the protected mode
I really dont know what can be the problem, on my PC where i have XP SP3 it works fine with firefox 13.0.1 and the newest flash and also hardware acceleration turned on, have the same plugins just the nvidia 3d plugins missing, but if i turn them off in firefox that didnt solve the problem. I also tried to disable all plugins just flash let allowed still no luck. i dont know if it can be with nvidia driver. I have quadro 2000 driver v. 276.58
