I have FF (ver 3.6.17) open and when I click on the "+" on the far right most tab to open a new tab (the tool tip even says "Open a new tab"), nothing happens. I click on File, New Tab and nothing happens. I opened up a new browser window, clicked on the tab next to the currently opened tab and nothing happens. I've clicked Tools, Clear Recent History, Everything. I've restarted the PC. Nothing seems to work. This only started being a problem a couple days ago. Any idea what could be wrong?

I think I have read in other posts here that this could be a side effect of the Ask toolbar. Can you check here and see whether you have it, and disable it if you do?

If not, the other suggested troubleshooting steps are the solution in this thread: Can't open new tabs; no Ask toolbar | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help

As you suggested, I disabled the Ask toolbar, restarted FF and I can open new tabs now. I think I'll just uninstall the Ask toolbar. I think between Yahoo! and AVG, I have enough search engines and toolbars anyway. Thanks so much for your help.
