the only way to get app tabs to refresh is to manually refresh the tab before going into it. they don't refresh on start up unless you clear your entire browsing history which is really useless. So why even have this "feature" if it is really badly designed and implemented? Just wondering. I thought it would be a great feature, turns out to really suck pretty bad.

You only need to clear the browsing cache on exit if you want Firefox to reload the pages from the website instead of from the cache.

Still, they still won't refresh on a regular basis once the browser is started so it is still better to have them as regular tabs instead. If you could set an app tab to refresh every 5 minutes or 10, or 1/2 hour etc. then I think they would be useful. As it is, I don't use app tabs because they are just more work for me, not less which is what the point of app tabs should be. Just my opinion of course, you certainly don't have to agree.

I found a work around, you can use the "reload every" plugin which allows you to set a refresh time frame (I set mine to 5 minutes) on the website you set as an app tab and enable it just for each of those sites. Works well, this should be a default feature, in my opinion, for app tabs or even tabs in general, especially if you leave your browser on all day while at work etc.
