Having recently installed Firefox, it is not retaining any of my browsing history, including the last page visited (no back button!).
My Privacy and Security settings are set to retain cookies but for some reason this information is not being stored at all. I cannot save bookmarks or even go back on my browser. Help!

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks that you should update.
