Help!
I had this problem yesterday when I started up this browser it said, "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem.". So I read through the article and it said to restart my mac, so I did just that and pow, my bookmarks and history returned! Little did I know that the next day, (today) I'd start up Firefox and the message was there again, but this time, it got even worse.
First I tried to tackle the bookmark problem, "Quit Firefox" they said, "Restart your computer." they said, "Create a new database". None of those worked, so I scrambled the internet looking for answers, all of them resolved their problems, every one else was A-ok, excluding me, and just like that, my add-ons weren't working anymore! Ad-block Plus, Dark Reader, Privacy Badger, nothing. I tried to delete Adblock first and reinstall it, because that's what their page told me to do, and I keep getting this message trying to reinstall it saying, "Installation aborted because the add-on appears to be corrupt." And little did I know that every other extension said the exact same thing. So i knew something was going on that was out of my control. And then finally, the "pièce de résistance" to my pain and suffering through out this whole hour or so, pages won't even load even though I'm connected to the internet, how perfect... Even trying to update the browser won't work, downloading a new one also goes through the same "pages not loading problem. So in conclusion, hopefully, just hopefully, you guys can help me out. I'll probably have to resort to my old laptop, (which is slow and almost unusable with how buggy that thing is.) seeing how my mac has also been running into problems these last few days as well before this conundrum.
Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving!

Also a note, you can scroll through that bottom half with the typewriter-ish font just so you know.
Thanks!

Sorry about the formatting: any line starting with one or more blank spaces is given that "pre-formatted" styling (does not wrap to a new line).
Bookmarks and History
What is the current status? Do you still get the message? This can indicate either file corruption or a file lock. Usually the file doesn't get corrupted on a daily basis, but perhaps there is a file lock for some reason. Do you have any external programs that clean up browser history or might have any other reason to be touching bookmarks + history?
Add-ons
These could be storage problems. Which could be file lock problems, but it's not normal for so many files to be locked. A file access/permissions issue might be more likely.
Loading Websites
It's beginning to sound like your Firefox installation might be corrupted. Firefox 83.0 was released today, so you could try to update -- if Firefox will update.

About Bookmarks and History
Yes, I still get the message when I close and open Firefox. They still are being stored in some application of some sort, it might be Avast Security on my mac but I'm not sure at the moment. And also this is the first I'm hearing of this "file lock" thing, so I would like to figure out how to tackle that problem.
About Add-ons
Same file lock issue. (Need help explaining.)
About the Loading Websites
I'm not sure if I want to update and/or download a new version before I get the problem fixed, I want to get the Bookmark problem fixed before I do that. (To see if my account's bookmarks and history are safe.)
Thanks for responding sooner!

I'm not sure I have much more information. As a Windows person, I am not familiar with system behavior, security software or utilities/tools for MacOS.
Oh, okay. That's perfectly fine, I can just go ahead and try to see if the update or download links will work, but if not, oh well, Safari is my new (broken) best friend I guess.
Thank you for your help!

Update: The pages for the download is not working and the update has failed, i will try to download the latest version using Safari.
Update 2: "Safari can’t resume this download." "The file “Firefox 83.0.dmg.download” doesn’t appear to be a valid download file." Oh well, I tried my best... Unless somebody shows up to fix this wreck of a situation going on right now, I can no longer use Firefox on my mac, might be the mac update, I don't know at this point in time. Thank you for trying to help me out of this situation by the way, I really appreciated that.
