Hi,

please provide a *real* MSI package, not just an EXE wrapper. Maybe you can contact the guy at https://www.frontmotion.com/ for help.

Thanks, ldlx

The latest MSI is just an EXE wrapper, but not a real MSI package!!!

firefox has nothing to do with that site you listed. One should use the firefox official site to download and install the browser only.

Tell me something I don't know. But: that guy has a working MSI installer using the original binaries, which is not just an EXE wrapper - since years. There's a version that is original/not customized (and supports the Mozilla group policy templates made by Mike Kaply) and a customized version ("Community Edition") with it's own group policy templates.

What is the reason the MSI installer is needed? Does your enterprise security software block the unpacker in the regular EXE? Some other reason?

MSIs can be easily deployed using group policies (so not script-based "install on every startup"). And MSIs don't describe steps to do for an install/uninstall, they describe a state (which is the basic difference to other installers, e.g. NSIS, this is why "repair installs" are possible).

And: *real* MSI installers are customizable. Shortcuts, folder

names, registry entries, etc..

I'll mark this thread for "Firefox for Enterprise" to see whether that team has any input.

That is for the regular offline setup .exe's for Windows that regular Firefox users use and not the MSI installers as being discussed in this thread.

The MSI installers for Windows are listed in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/deploy-firefox-msi-installers in which the OP is aware of.

Hi jscher2000... did you get any feedback on this?

Well, your thread was moved to the Firefox for Enterprise forum, but the threads here are more focused on policy issues than on how builds are created, so maybe that explains the silence.

Are you part of the Enterprise Working Group mailing list? You could check the archives to see whether it has been discussed there: https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/enterprise
