I'm setting up a Cable One email address on Thunderbird and the instructions from Cable one says to: " Go to the "Advanced" tab at the top of the Properties window and make the following changes under "Server Port Numbers. Check the box that says "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" under "Incoming mail (IMAP)".

I cannot find the Properties window to get to the Advanced tab. I've looked everywhere I can think of to no avail. Anything that says "Advanced" does not give the "server requires an encryption box". Are there better or more current instructions that I need? I'm using Windows 7. Thanks.

The settings look the same for both, accounts #7 and #8.

One of them is working fine, but the other comes up with a message that reads,

Can you post a screenshot of the error?

Those instructions make no sense to me either. perhaps you might ask the people who wrote them what program they used to create them. It sounds like outlook or outlook express to me.

In Thunderbird Press Alt+F From the file menu select new and then existing account. Insert your email address and password and click next. Hopefully Thunderbird will auto detect your account settings for you.

I'm going to go into more explanation. I have 2 different emails with cableone...one personal, the other for a business. One of them is working fine, but the other comes up with a message that reads, "Firefox Server [email protected] has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem." The other email address receives them just fine. AND these emails are set up on another computer and they come through on it just fine. I have checked and rechecked and have them all set up the same. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Christ 1, Here is the troubleshooting information for my accounts. Of the 2 cable one accounts, #7 works and #8 does not. All of the rest of these accounts work just fine and as I stated before they all work on our desk top, and all but # 8 works on my lap top, which is where I'm working from most of the time! Thanks.
