How to get, & "fix", Single Spacing as automatic, on Email 'write / compose' page. Do Not want the enforced Double spacing!
On Thunderbird "write' page - where you 'compose' an Email - Double spacing (or 'Paragraph') has be set as a 'default'. (Why? It was fine as it was before. I am perfectly able to click 'return' twice if/when/ I really want double spacing.)
I want to have SINGLE SPACING as my default. How do I set this as default on Thunderbird? Please HELP?
How can we Contact the annoying Thunderbird technician person who decided to to enforce this Double Spacing on us all?! And get them to undo it, and go back to simple normal Single Spacing. Or at least give us users a CHOICE.
(I have already looked at an earlier suggested 'solution' on this support forum, but it is not a 'solution' - because it doesn't work! - (because the suggestion was to click on Tools/option/Composition/General. I click on 'Tools' and none of those other words appear, nor anything similar to those words! So it doesn't work for me!)

Hello Matt, When I press F10, it just shows the icon for 'volume'/ sound level. nothing else. I have an iMac - I don't know if this makes any difference to Thunderbird?
yes it makes a huge difference. Just a shame you did not mention the apple connection earlier. On a mac the tools> options is on the menu as Thunderbird > preferences

So - On an Apple Mac- the 'tools> options is on the Menu as Thunderbird > preferences.
Brilliant. Thank you for your help on that Matt.
I do have ANOTHER question with regards to Receiving emails on Thunderbird?
I have one website which sends me email 'enquiries' (to answer), which always come in, in Tiny Writing!
when I receive an enquiry, the writing is very small, and it's FIXED at that tiny size! Too small. And it can't be Changed and Enlarged.
(No other website emails come in with this tiny writing, so I'm guessing it may be something particular to that website settings? )
Unfortunately, this tiny text setting also means that my REPLIES (to these enquiries ) are similarly Tiny - and also Can't be Enlarged!
My template for my replies are 'set' at a size 11 microsoft 'Word' setting, really quite big - BUT when I copy and paste my template reply (at this normal medium sized writing), for 'editing', (in to answer the particular enquiry that's come in) - this reply STILL will only appear as tiny on the email enquiry's Reply! Very frustrating!
Do you have any answer to how to get MY REPLIES to emails, *AT THE SIZE I WANT THEM TO GO OUT*, and at the size I want them to appear, at the other end?
first... it is HTML email with font sizes in pixels, not points. so you are probably specifying 11 pixels. Quite small really.
Second, unless you want weird issues paste only text from word. (Ctel+Shift+V) The word insterted formatting has in the past tripped up spam filters and anti virus programs. It also includes as a general rule much more than you might think, like the entire content of the Normal template in word.
However, I do wonder if the emails are plain text. When you are editing these emails, do they have a toolbar below the subject with font names etc?
You said "I do wonder if the emails are plain text. When you are editing these emails, do they have a toolbar below the subject with font names etc?"
Yes. That's how all my Thunderbird emails look - with a toolbar under the 'subject'.
