When I go onto the about:customizing screen, it's blank. No icons, nothing. Means I can't do whatever Mozilla suggests I do.
It started because I keep losing my bookmarks toolbar. Finally got that back thanks to someone else's suggestion, but the about:customizing screen remains blank.

Disable any add-on themes in Firefox and in Windows 10, and see if Customize then works.
Also, you can troubleshoot using the Firefox SafeMode if it mot theme related.
What steps did you take to restore the Bookmarks Toolbar?
You can try to reset the browser.uiCustomization.state pref on the about:config page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
If that doesn't work then try to delete the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Thanks for your suggestions, sorry for delay. Had further issues with toolbar, but that is now back permanently and for some bizarre reason so is the about:customizing. I don't pretend to have ANY idea why or how. Just glad it's sorted (itself).
