Sometimes when I close Firefox, task manager tells me it's still open
Then when I try to open the browser again, it just opens another instance in task manager and doesn't actually open the browser. If I keep trying to open Firefox, it then just keeps doing the same thing and I wound up having 10 instances of Firefox in my task manager but no browser open.
If I end the process within task manager and try to re-open Firefox, it will sometimes load correctly, however, sometimes there is nothing I can do but restart my computer to get the browser to open.
Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks

I can try to help you. But, I'm french, so sorry for my bad english.
Then, install the new Firefox 29 (not mandatory, but is better)
Have you tried to restart Firefox without modules?
Maybe one module cause failure.
Then, if Firefox works correctly, try to desactivate one module by one, for to found the module which cause bug.
If not works, have you got an antivirus ? Launch one analyse. Then, download "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" and launch analyse too, after antivirus.
If not works again, we will force things, unistall completly firefox, and re-install again (don't forget, sync your module history and other with Firefox Sync if it is not already), and download firefox before unistall it.
If it still does not work, I can not help you more, sorry ...
Good luck
ChromeShady; Very Good advice. Allow me to explain
delpaso;
Start Firefox in Safe Mode
While you are in safe mode;
Firefox Options > Advanced > General.
Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
See if Firefox closes properly now. If so, restart and after it's done loading,
close it. If there is still a problem, it could be an add-on......or.....

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

You still did a good job. There was nothing wrong with what you said. But, you did not explain how. If you have a moment, look at the Reply box below. Do you see the link Common responses? Click it and look around.
Thanks for your replies, guys and sorry for the late response.
I have now tried all of this and still having the same problem.
Hi delpaso;
Start Firefox in Safe Mode
While you are in safe mode, poke around a few safe web sites. Then
shut down. Is there still a problem?
