When selecting an item to read on a given website, an additional page opens up first, surveys for the site or other advertisements. Additionally now I have advertisements almost always on the right side of screen coming into the window.

Hi!

I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with what it looks like Spam.

It looks like your browser could have been taken over by an add-on that is causing this type of behavior. Could you try to use the browser in Safe Mode and see if the behavior prevails? Learn more about it in the following link: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode

If this helps resolve the problem, you would need to look into the list of Add-ons that you have installed and uninstall the ones that could be causing the problem. The other solution is to use Firefox Reset: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

If Safe Mode doesn't fix the problems, could you share some of the websited that are causing this problem to you?

I hope this helps. Ibai
