Since updating my plugins right-click no longer saves an image - it "cancels".
Last night I updated all my plugins and now I can't save images by right-clicking. I am using Firefox 3.6.8 on a desktop computer running Windows XP legally.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems
Tried that with no result. I realized I had accidentally (well, carelessly) customized the original default setting and created a new setting to run as default. This may be why it didn't work, although I did eventually get a "plain" version. Setting everything to default, I looked in add-ons anyway and discovered that Real-Player items were still installed. Clicked "disable" on all of those. Right-click still results in no images being saved. The Download box says [name of image.jpg] canceled [website.com]
Knowing Real tries to be a browser itself, should I uninstall it from the entire computer? I don't really NEED it. Befuddled Suze

Do you have the "RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin" extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) ?
Be sure not to get confused with the RealPlayer plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) that plays media files. The extension adds some extra features like saving media files.
You can disable/remove the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension in the RealPlayer Preferences (RealPlayer: Tools > Preferences > Download & Recording)
You can also disable unneeded plugin like Fun Web Products Plugin Stub for 32-bit Windows (can be considered as malware/spyware).
These don't seem to apply to my computer. I am also having (new) trouble playing .flv files. One troubleshoot suggested my Directx was obsolete, so I tried to DL a newer version.
Downloads are coming up as "Canceled" too!
I sure wish I hadn't listened to Firefox page's promise that my Firefox would be better if I updated. It was working fine... >:-(
I've just noticed something odd. (Odder?) When I "disable" all the plugins, the Quick Time and Real plugins come back on their own. I've tried it several times in case I was doing something wrong, but every time I restart Firefox - Poof! there they are again.
Is there some special method of turning them off?
Should I completely uninstall them from my system?

Well! I think I found it!
While I was on vacation a friend added the browser accelerator to a different profile. Somehow this "contaminated" ALL the profiles, even the new Default I created.
How is this possible? Why did it not show up immediately?

BTW, the add-on was called "Download Helper". Not much help, that...
