This is a new issue that just started occuring this month Nov/2023. Firefox for Android has suddenly developed an issue where instead of saving to the download folder and renaming the file with (1), (2), etc. It will save to a random folder and overwrite an existing file with the same name.

Noticed occuring on ebay images because they have the same naming structure.

Hi

I have just tried that myself and images from the eBay website are only saving to the Downloads folder.

Please can you specify the exact steps you are following so that we can try to recreate this. Specifying them in a numbered list may help.

I have a lot of folders, but as an example lets say I have 5 folders structured like this.

Downloads   |  files to move       |   Folders 1-5

Each folder has a few files "s-l1600.jpg" with (2), (3) and so on at the end so multiple folders will have a file with the same name.

Ill go to ebay and normally it will save to downloads and even occasionally add a second number like "s-l1600 (3) (1).jpg"

But now it will save to one of the 5 folders randomly and overwrite one of the other image files with the same name.

I found the same issue here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1812788

Added around the same time I started having the issue.
