How can I search for items posted in a particular time period or for ones posted more than a month ago?
I want to have more flexibility to search for items dated more than a month ago or for items dated in a particular time period. For example, search for items dated 6 months ago, or a year ago. How can I do that? Thanks.

Hi bidwin, do you mean on this site? There is an Advanced Search page you can try:
https://support.mozilla.org/search/advanced
After clicking the Support Questions heading and entering your question, you'll see at the bottom two date fields:
- Created (before or after)
- Last updated (before or after)
Maybe that will help you find what you're looking for.
Bear in mind that people do not always submit their questions under the correct product, topic, or OS, so if you use those checkboxes you could miss relevant threads.
Thanks for your response, jscher2000. I see my question was vague. I should have asked whether Firefox had an Internet search capability that would allow me to specify a date period to be searched, such as a past time period (eg. Past 6 months, year, two years, etc), or between dates (eg. between 01/01/2017 and 03/31/2018), as some other search engines have.

Hi bidwin,
A little misunderstanding : Firefox is a browser, not a search engine .....

Hi bidwin, by default, Firefox sends searches to Google. If there is a different search site that you prefer, it may or may not have a date range option.
In my experience, search engines cannot always accurately identify the post date or last modified date of web pages, so date range searching can be "hit or miss."
When one uses Google : click on 'Tools' => 'Any Time' ......
I see search parameters like this with cd_min and cd_max parameters to specify a time range in a Google search:
The OP says :
"I should have asked whether Firefox had an Internet search capability that would allow me to specify a date period to be searched, "
Ah, I am (more) enlightened, thanks to Happy112 and jscher2000! I did not know that Firefox was (merely) a browser and that it used Google to do its searching, So I guess when I need to search the Internet with more specificity than Firefox can provide I'll have to use Google, which I really DO NOT want to do. I hate all the popups that are generated by Google's logging my search criteria.
Next question: How can I prevent those popups????
Thanks, all, again. I appreciate your responses.

You are talking about pop-ups only, and not about notifications, right ?
Maybe a rhetorical question, but have you done this :
3-bar menu (or 'Tools') => Options => Privacy & Security
Under 'Permissions' : check 'Block pop-up windows'.
Maybe you'd like to give this extension a try :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/popup-blocker-ultimate/
Can you attach a screenshot that shows a pop-up?

- use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot

No, not quite. There is no Firefox search site. When you search in Firefox, you can search using a range of different service providers, including Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, and many others.
If you are searching from the address bar, the search bar, or the bars in Firefox's built-in home page or new tab page, Firefox will send your query to your default search engine. This article describes how to manage that setting: Change your default search settings in Firefox.
Regarding date ranges, here's what I see on Bing (https://www.bing.com/):

You could try that out to see whether you like its results better than the ones you usually view.
Firefox only comes with search "plugins" for a few general purpose search engines — Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo among them — but you can add others for sites you like. There are a variety of ways to do it, and we could help you research how if you mention the site you like.
