I have task scheduler set up to open a stream on the web using Firefox, and then I have task scheduler open another program I use to record the audio. However, I was having some issues with streams stopping before I wanted them to, so I started occasionally resetting Firefox, and that helped. However, I still have issues if I open more than 1 stream in a day. Is there a way to make Firefox automatically reset itself?

I'm not aware of a way to refresh Firefox automatically. The Safe Mode start window has a button to Refresh Firefox (firefox.exe -safe-mode), so that could be a possible workaround.

Didn't you try to clear the cache and the cookies to see if that works?

A refresh shouldn't be necessary for such an issue.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache":

  • Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Yeah, I've tried just clearing the cache and cookies, but that didn't help. Then I got with iheart support and they showed me how to reset Firefox, and that seemed to have worked.

Since I can't be there in person everytime it opens a stream, I was thinking maybe I could automatically reset everything before it opened a stream to see if that helped. I'm still in the troubleshooting stage; so, I was hoping there was a parameter I could use with task scheduler or something.

But thanks for your help

There is an environment variable MOZ_RESET_PROFILE_RESTART related to a reset/refresh, but that probably requires confirmation.

That's over my head, but I appreciate the attempt to help me.

Here's an update to my plight. I think I've found the secret, meaning it has worked so far. I reset my router every morning before going to work. I'm not sure why that works, but it seems to. It really had nothing to do with Firefox.
