You would need to write that in the composing area.

But you mention wanting to keep track of emails and attachments in a common conversation.

As you are using the 'Reply' button option, this would keep a track of the Subject and allow them to be grouped or threaded.

You could Switch on message threads to see them listed together in the Message List. You can also right click on an email and choose to 'Open Message in Conversation'. This open all messages of same subject both those received and your sent replies, in a new tab.

I would like to have the list of attachments written directly into the email (e.g. under the headers) so that, scrolling down in an email, it is very immediate to see when and which attachments have been included in each message. I know that this can be done because I received emails with the list of attachments under the header or under the body of the email. Additionally, searching on the internet it seems that other clients can make it automatically.

I think the point is "other clients". Sounds like a good idea to me, perhaps you might like to file an enhancement bug report. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/

I have used a few different email programs and webmail sites, and none of them ever listed attachments in the message body either during composition or upon receipt. If attachments were listed in the header it's because they were attachments to the current message.

I have seen replies from others with annotations such as these at the bottom:

<agreement.docx&/gt; <schedule.pdf&/gt;

I'm not sure how that got added. (Possibly a recipient uses an archiving program that removes attachments to a document folder or document management system and leaves an annotation about it for the user's reference.)

Is that the kind of thing you would like to add somewhere? Of course you (or an add-on) have complete control over a message you're composing, but it's more difficult to insert content into received messages...

Yes jscher2000, that's exactly what I mean: I would like to have an automatic annotation (under the headers or under the body of the email) with the list of attachments when I reply to a message containing attachments. Of course I would like to have this function only when I'm composing a reply, not into received messages.

For sure I received messages with the list of attachments, but I don't know if it has been done through a standard option in the client, or through some specific scripts, or manually by the writer... But I do not want to manually re-write the names of the attachments every time I reply to a message, and I'm not able to create an add-on for this job. I searched in existing add-ons but I didn't find anything suitable.
